*Spoiler Alert: If you haven’t yet seen The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 4, episode 8.

I finished the last episode of season 4 for the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Prime Video. The title is “Do you Know The Way To Carnegie Hall?” Episode is written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino.

Luke Kirby plays Lenny Bruce in the series. And the episode is about his shows at Carnegie Hall. The scene at the end is probably the best of the entire season. It’s a lecture/ rant from Lenny on the cost of fame, the compromises made, and the hard work it took to get there.

From Midge’s side (Rachel Brosnahan) it’s about fear of getting fired, and of being herself. It’s also a quest for equality; all she wants to do is be a comic like Lenny. And it’s about the perception of fame from the outside.

It’s one of the best pieces of writing, and acting I’ve seen.
