What I’ve been following this week in news

  1. A Copy Story is not collusion: We’re starting with Pierre Poilievre’s attempts to paint the use of a copy story from Canadian Press on the party’s use of debunked conspiracy theories on the Word Economic Forum (WEF) as a media bias against him. No, it’s not. It’s a service used by many newsrooms who pay for the wire stories like this one published by the CBC. I can remember writing scripts way back in my internship days based those stories.
  2. What’s in a name? The quest to rename Dundas St. in Toronto continues amidst conflicting reports on whether the city intends to go ahead with it. Further developments today surround further evidence that Henry Dundas was honestly trying to abolish slavery. I’d keep the name, and just add QR codes to the street signs leading to an online bio about Henry Dundas for anyone interested.
  3. An Unused phone… A week after a damning Auditor General’s Report, we find out that Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s government-issued cell phone went unused for 3 months. Global news reports

4. Conestoga College adds a second Milton location: Will host classes out of 433 Steeles Ave. East starting in 2024.

Coming up:

Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) kicks off tomorrow with speeches from both Transport Minister Caroline Mulroney, and Premier Doug Ford.
